FEES

Fees include university tuition fees, language course fees, summer school fees and other possible fees.

University Tuition Fees

Regarding the financial aspects of the students, there are according to the programme’s plan three (3) kind of students:

  • For MSc scholarship students, all tuition and administration fees will be covered by the scholarship.
  • All MSc non-scholarship students pay an annual fee (Category A (E.U.) students 4,000€/year or 8,000€/2-years and Category B (Non-E.U.) students 8,000€/year or 16,000€/2-years) to the SMACCs Secretariat, towards tuition and coordination costs. Confirmation of the tuition fees and payment deadline are communicated to the admitted students during registration at the partner university.
    • These registration fees cover tuition fees and insurance coverage – and include free access to libraries, labs, or the Internet inside the Consortium Universities (UMONS, UPV/EHU, HWU, IHU) or Associates through which the study programme is completed.
    • Costs of travelling and accommodation, which must be compulsorily achieved after student mobility (SM) within the SMACCs consortium, will be at students’ own responsibility. Thus students are expected to cover their travel and accommodation expenses during their study stay. However, the SMACCs consortium will do special efforts to support students’ applications for official fellowships. While no university tuition fees are charged at associated partner universities, students may incur small administrative fees from some partner universities that may charge an additional fee for exam and/or thesis registration as well as diploma delivery.
    • The university tuition fees and other possible university administrative fees are distributed by the SMACCs secretariat to the student’s SMACCs main partner universities according to the chosen Mobility Path.

Language Course Fees

  • Students interested in taking a preparatory language course during their first or second academic year (at UMONS in French, at UPV/EHU in Spanish or Basque, at HWU in English and at IHU in Greek) can sign up for a multiple-week intensive course prior to the semester start or a regular course. Any fees incurred by this courses are payable to the individual universities and are not part of the tuition fee. Students are not required to take such a language course, but are being recommended for it.
  • The eventual language course fees are paid directly to the organizing institution upon signing up for the language course.

Summer School Fees

  • The summer school is the main programme-related event where all students and many staff members involved in the SMACCs Master’s programme meet together for a one-week period at a partner university in July. SMACCs students have to participate in at least one summer school, either at the end of the first academic year or the end of the second academic year in the SMACCs Master’s programme.
  • The summer school that will be linked to a conference is one of the highlights of the programme, because of the international atmosphere and the potential for networking but also due to the academic topic of the conference that is organized each time and varies from summer to summer. For each of these summer schools, the SMACCs coordination office may charge a fee per student to cover expenses related to the renting of the venue, inviting guest speakers, and organizing field trips and social events. This fee does not cover travel and accommodation for attending these summer schools. The summer school fees are paid to the SMACCs coordination office by June 15th of each academic year.

Other Fees

  • Students may also incur administrative expenses related to application documents, visas, residence permits, and graduation fees. Such expenses are not included in the university tuition fees for non-EMJMD scholarship holders. The issuance of the additional diplomas will be subject to the payment of the fees in force in the corresponding university.
